Ten Digital Marketing Trends For 2020
In this short article I’m providing a summary of the 10 digital marketing trends for 2020.
Trying to keep up with the latest digital marketing trends is becoming increasingly difficult due to the ever increasing combination of elements and strategies being used.
Adding to this complexity is the rapid evolution and use of technologies which include Artificial Intelligence and Chat Bots in marketing strategies.
On top of all that, digital marketing strategies need to evolve in order to accommodate and move with consumer preferences in the way they interact online.
For example, if you’re not using video in your marketing you’re almost certainly not in touch with your audience in a way they prefer.
I’m someone who is relatively new to digital marketing – around 5 years now.
I often find myself struggling to, first of all, understand what the important trends are in digital marketing, but also then to encompass some of these in what I do.
So, What Are The Ten Digital Marketing Trends for 2020?
Perhaps the easiest and quickest way to update you is to share an article I recently came across which deals with this topic.
Here’s a link to the article “10 Trends in Digital Marketing” was written by The Digital Marketing Institute. It first appeared in 2018 and was then updated for 2020.
The article itself is a fairly comprehensive summary of what the trends are, together with reasons why these are the trends.
Here is a summary list of those trends:
- Facebook may be peaking. Really.
- Instagram is a hit with the kids.
- Chatbots will dominate customer service.
- Video is no longer an option
- Good content still matters (and now context matters more!)
- Email is getting more personalised.
- Interactive content will become mainstream.
- Voice interaction continues upward.
- Marketing in messaging apps will level up.
- Omnichannel marketing is now vital.
As is always the case with technology the changes are coming thick, and fast!
Summary – The Ten Digital Marketing Trends for 2020
The article concludes by saying that AI technology, video, voice search, and interactive content are among the most important of the digital marketing trends for 2020.
What does all this mean for us entrepreneurs?
Well first of all we can’t just sit on our hands and keep things the way they are. We have to keep up, or we get lost in the noise.
It’s also I believe important that we keep our customers in mind. They are becoming more tech savvy, they want us to connect with them in the latest ways which in turn makes their online interactions easier and more enjoyable.
